Game Recap for 08/05/2008 5:35 PM

The St. George RoadRunners(11-8) started the scoring slowly before picking up the pace and wiping out the Orange County Flyers (10-9) 7-3 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday night at Goodwin Field in Fullerton.

St. George opened up the scoring in the third, utilizing a leadoff walk before scoring. But the RoadRunners got the long ball working soon after, as Eddy Garabito and Seth Loman both left the yard to extend the lead to four.

Marcos Carvajal shut down the Flyers allowing just three hits and striking out seven in his third victory of the win.

The RoadRunners added on three more over the next to innings allowing Maros Caravajal to turn the game over to his bullpen after five shutout innings.

The Flyers immediately grabbed a run off of the bullpen when Buddy Morales tripled off of the left field wall and then scored on a perfectly executed bunt single by Travon Jackson.

The Flyers continued to threatened before Galva was able to escape, getting a broken bat line drive to end the inning.

The two teams took a 30 minute break before starting game two.
