Josh Arhart tacked on another run in the inning, doubling down the left field line to plate Jeff LaRue before a great block of the plate by Octavio Martinez prevented Fernando Pacheco from scoring on the play.
Dan Trumble got the Armada on the board with a monsterous homer over the left field wall, clearing the netting easily.
Long Beach picked up another run in the sixth, after Norm Hutchins singled and stole second Brett Flowers doubled down the right field line to draw the Armada within four.
David Bacani quickly got that run back in the bottom of the inning, blasting his fourth homer of the year to left.
The Armada kept fighting in the ninth, as Julian Williams walked before the second out was recorded. Still, back to back doubles from Steve Moss and Chris Klemm pulled long beach within three. But Ruvalcaba was able to strike out Hutchins to close the door and preserve the win.
Nick Bierbrodt took the loss to fall to 1-4.
