Game Recap for 07/06/2010 7:05p PM![]() The Orange County Flyers scored 15 runs from the fifth to the eighth inning, to pull away from the Calgary Vipers to gain their 17th victory of the year, on the way to an 18-6 victory. Highlighted by, rookie shortstop Tyler Keeble’s grand slam in the fifth inning, the Flyers (17-20), extended the Vipers (20-19) losing streak to 11. After giving up a leadoff homer to Vipers Jonny Kaplan, the Flyers answered back with three runs in the bottom of the second, thanks to three walks by Vipers starter Anastacio Ramirez. Jim Goethals doubled down the left field line to knock in two, while Ramirez’s counterpart Manny Ayala got his fourth RBI of the season in a fielders choice. In the bottom of the fifth inning, walks would again hurt Anastacio Ramirez as he lead off the inning plunking Steve Boggs and then walking Derek Perren. All-star Jimmy Rohan would come up and drive in his 29th RBI of the season, to give the Flyers a 4-1 lead. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded Tyler Keeble took a pitch over the right field wall for the grand slam, his seventh homer of the year. Keeble finished the night 2-4 on the night and four runs batted in. The Flyers fireworks didn’t end there in the bottom of the sixth, Ginter drove in two on his double, as the Flyers were up 10-4 before adding three more in the bottom of the seventh. Perren would double in the bottom of the seventh to drive in two more runs, and pinch hitter Eric Pringle got his first hit and RBI as a Flyer broadening the lead to13-3. In the bottom of the eighth, rookie David Harris blasted his first home run from the right side, third homer of the year, in a two run shot and Eric Pringle picked up his second hit of the night, a triple, to drive in his second run of the game. Ginter would finish off the offensive onslaught as he tripled to right center for his third hit and third RBI of the night, as the Flyers would extend their lead to 18-6 lead. Manny Ayala, the Flyers starter, threw 6 strong innings, striking out five, and scattering seven hits, while giving up just four runs and picked up his fifth win on the year. Brandon Parillo, Bryan Harris and Kevin Altman would combine to pitch the final three innings as the Flyers defeated the Vipers 18-6. |
