OUTLAWS OVERCOME EJECTIONS TO SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH FLYERS

FULLERTON, Calif. (June 26, 2010) - The Orange County Flyers could not complete a valiant comeback against the Golden Baseball League leading Chico Outlaws 3-2 in the second game of a double header.  In a game that saw three ejections, all by the Outlaws (24-8), the Flyers (13-17) struck in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out two-run rally ignited by three straight doubles

After trailing the Outlaws 3-0 into the bottom of the 5th inning, three straight doubles by the Flyers bottom of the order, gained two runs back
against, GBL North leading Outlaws.  The two-out rally, started by Julian Benavidez double to right center, Jim Goethals stepped in and got his 18th RBI of the season to cut the Outlaws lead to 3-1. Pinch-hitter Derek Perren, who started at 1st in the first game, doubled
down the right field line to cut the Outlaws lead to 3-2
.

Craziness would ensue after the two-out rally, as reliever Justin Segal of the Outlaws tried picking off Perren at second base, but he advanced to
third.  Garry Templeton, the former Flyers manager, came out to argue about a balk call that was not made by 1B umpire Billy Van Raaphorst.  Templeton, and former major leaguer, Bobby Hill would be ejected in a long argument.

The Flyers starting pitcher, Jake Renshaw, got his first start of the season, and delivered a strong five innings for the Flyers, giving up only three runs off two hits, while striking out four, despite earning his first loss on the season.  Wayne Franklin, the Outlaws starting pitcher, was perfect through three innings, and picked up his second win of the season.  David Dinelli earned his first save of the season, striking out the side in the
bottom of the seventh to cement the victory for the Outlaws.

The Flyers head to Chico to rematch with the Outlaws June 28th to the 30th, and return home for a three game series against Maui July 2nd and 3rd.
