POTE TOO POTENT FOR CAPITALS

 
 
EDMONTON, Alberta (June 8, 2010) – Orange County dropped the series opener to the Edmonton Capitals, 7-2, at Telus Field on Tuesday night.
 
With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, Caps centerfield Ryan Stevenson made a warning track grab on a Steve Boggs blast to end the game.  
 
Lou Pote gave Edmonton seven strong innings, giving up two runs and scattering seven hits while striking out seven Flyers batters.  Pote (1-0) earned the win while Flyers starter Matt Durkin took the loss.  
 
The Capitals scored four runs in the second inning off Durkin.  Cliff Brumbaugh led off the inning with a homerun, and Ryan Stevenson added a two-run single for an early 4-1 lead.  Durkin (1-1) settled down after the big inning, pitching three 1-2-3 innings.  
 
Flyers shortstop Tyler Keeble led the Orange County offense going 2-for-4 with an RBI-double, a triple, and a run scored.
