Game Recap for 06/28/2009 7:05pm PM

LONG BEACH, Calif---Daryl Jones' second inning homer gave the Long Beach Armada (13-15) a lead they would never relinquish, as the Armada held on for the second time in three nights to knock off the Orange County Flyers (14-15) at Blair Field.
Similar to Friday night's loss, the Flyers fell behind early after striking first. Jones homer and a five run third proved to be enough as Kiochi Misawa picked up a three inning save as the Armada held off another late surge from Orange County.
Damian Jackson led off the first with a walk, advancing to second on a single by Nick Guerra. Robert Fick grounded a ball to second, forcing out Guerra, but Nick's slide made a double play impossible and the throw got away from the Armada defense to score Jackson.
Long Beach took the lead in the bottom of the second as Napolean Calzado singled to leadoff the inning before Daryl Jones hit a 2 run homer just inside the left field foul pole.
The Armada really got to the Flyers starter David Cross (1-2) in the third as Kaplan started the inning off with a single followed by another single by J.J. Sherrill. Napoleon Calzado's two run single padded the lead and Jones single plated Calzado and chased Cross from the game. Steve Young delivered a two run single against reliever Adam Johnson, capping the Armada's offense for the game.
The Flyers pulled close with in the fourth. Juan Senreiso reached on an error followed by consecutive singles from Jimmy Rohan, Travis Becktel, and Frank LoNigro. Steve Boggs groundout scored Becktel and cleared the bases. Damian Jackson then roped his first homer of the year pulling the Flyers within two.
O.C. got one more in the sixth when LoNigro reached on another Armada error, advancing to second on a wild throw. Jackson then followed up with a sac fly to score LoNigro after he had been moved to third by a groundout from Boggs.
Kiochi Misawa shut down the Flyers for the final three innings to pick up his first save of the game to preserve Keith Ramsey's(2-3) five inning start to give the Armada the series victory.
Orange County will have the week off before opening a six game homestand against the southern division leading St. George RoadRunners Saturday July 3rd at 7:05 p.m.
