AYALA NO-HITS VIPERS THROUGH SEVEN
Keeble leads offense with pair of triples, 4 RBI

CALGARY -– The Vipers didn’t have an answer for Flyers starting pitcher Manny Ayala, and they may not have understood the question either.  Ayala faced the minimum 21 batters through the first seven innings, taking a no-hitter into the eighth, as Orange County battered the Vipers, 12-4, in the series finale.

In GBL history, two pitchers have thrown no-hitters, both in 7-inning games during doubleheaders, meaning Ayala matched the feat of seven innings without surrendering a hit.  Kevin Price took a 1-2 pitch down the left-field line for a double to lead off the eighth inning for the first Calgary hit.  Ayala, now 3-0, gave up consecutive doubles before leaving the game to a round of applause from the Vipers fans.

Ayala got plenty of run support, with rookie Tyler Keeble leading the way going 4-for-5 with a pair of triples and a career-high four RBI.  Keeble matched a franchise record with two triples in a game, done only once before. 

The Flyers (7-6) struck for two runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI-triple from Tyler Keeble, who batted second in the order for the first time this season, and an RBI-double from Jimmy Rohan.

Orange County chased Calgary starter Jay Broughton from the game in the second inning thanks to run-scoring singles from Rohan and Keith Ginter and a wild pitch that brought in Rohan for a 5-0 lead. 

In the bottom of the third inning, Ayala walked the lead off man but induced a ground ball for a double-play to wipe the base paths clear of the only runner to reach in the first seven frames.  He finished the game with a line of 7 innings pitched, two runs on two hits, one walk and four strikeouts. 

The Flyers offense expanded the lead to 12-0 thanks to a seven-run top of the seventh inning, highlighted by an Ayala RBI-single and Keeble’s second triple with the bases loaded. 

Andre Simpson finished the game on the mound, giving up a pair of runs on two hits for the Flyers.
