 FULLERTON, Calif---The St. George RoadRunners (17-10) rode a superstar performance at the plate from A.J. Valentine to a series winning victory over the Orange County Flyers (11-11) with an 8-3 win in the first game of a double header at Goodwin Field.

Valentine was 3-4 with three doubles and six RBI as he powered the RoadRunners while Luis Gonzalez (3-3) threw a complete game victory, striking out four.

The Flyers made it close thanks Travis Becktel's two run homer in the second tied the game, but Valentine's bases clearing double in the fourth proved to be all the offense St. George would need.

Jesse Smith pitched on three days rest for the Flyers but was tagged for five runs in four innings to drop to 3-3 on the year.

After a half hour break, St. George and Orange County wrap up the six consecutive games between the two clubs with the second game of the double header.
