Game Recap for 05/30/2009 7:05pm PM

TUCSON, Arizona--- The Orange County Flyers (0-5) scored first but failed to hold onto the early lead as the Tucson Toros (3-3) rode a solid outing from Dan Knox en route to a 3-1 victory Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field.

Despite a solo home run from Frank LoNigro in the fourth inning the Flyers failed to master Knox, who retired the last eleven batters he faced before exiting after the seventh.

Knox shut down the Orange County offense, allowing just three hits and striking out seven to improve his record to 1-0.

Orange County starter Jesse Smith was equally impresive, striking out the last four batter he faced, but could not overcome a three run eighth by Tucson. The Toros mounted a two out rally in the inning as Andre Marshall singled and Curt Miaso walked before May Santana, Luis Apodaca, and Franklin Gonzalez singled consecutively to provide Tucson with all the run support they would need.

The Flyers will look to break their five game slid as the series concludes Sunday at Hi Corbett Field at 7:05 p.m. Matt Durkin is expected to start for Orange County, while Danny Greenwalt should get the ball for Tucson.
