Game Recap for 05/29/2009 7:05pm PM

TUCSON, Arizona--- For the second straight opener, the Orange County Flyers (0-4) allowed fifteen runs in a losing effort as they dropped their first game against the expansion Tucson Toros 15-2, Friday night at Hi Corbett Field.

The Toros pounded out 18 hits to back a quality start by Lorenzo Barcelo as they snapped a three game losing streak. Each team came into the game on a three game skid thanks to the Chico Outlaws, but Tucson used the four off days they had to rest and came out strong against the defending GBL champs.

Tucson wasted no time jumping out in front, as Andre Marshall delivered a bases loaded single with one out in the first. Curt Miaso followed with an RBI double before Mayo Santana came through with a sac fly to cap the four run inning.

Shane Buschini belted his second home run of the year to lead off the second and get Orange County on the board.

Orange County starter Adam Johnson (0-1) settled down keeping the Flyers within striking distance until the sixth. A one out double by Luis Apodaca followed by a Franklin Gonzalez single and a Skip Adams double ended the starter's night. Lino Garcia doubled home another run to make it a three run inning for the Toros.

Barcelo exited after the sixth after striking out nine and allowing his first run of the season to improve to 2-0.

Tucson added a run in the seventh and O.C. got a run in the eighth on a Willie Keene home run but a seven run eighth put the game on ice for Tucson.

The loss is the Flyers fourth consecutive to open the season.

Orange County will look to break the skid behind Jesse Smith (0-1) Saturday against the Toros in the second game of a three game series, starting at 7:05 p.m.
