Flyers Add MLB Veterans!![]()
(Fullerton, Ca.) The Golden Baseball League Champion Orange County Flyers continued to improve their 2008 Championship team when they argreed to terms with former Major League stars Robert Fick and Damian Jackson. Terms of the contracts were not released but new Manager Phil Nevin is pleased to have both men scheduled to join the Flyers when they head to Camp May 10th at Fullerton College. Fick, a first baseman and outfielder from Torrance, was named to the American League All Star Team in 2002 while a member of the Detroit Tigers. The lefthanded hitter who throws righthanded played for five teams in his nine year Major League career. Jackson, born in Los Angeles, is a veteran infielder who played for nine teams throughout his 10 year major league career. He was origionally drafted by the Cleveland Indians and last played for the Washington Nationals in 2006 before signing with the Dodgers in 2007. He played last year in the Independent Atlantic League with the Camden Riversharks. The Flyers open Spring Camp May 10th at Fullerton College before starting the 2009 season on the road May 21st against the Tijuana Potros. The Flyers home opener at Goodwin Field at Cal State Fullerton is June 9th against the Victoria Seals. Opening night will feature awarding the 2008 Championship Rings and Fireworks.
